Material (Melamine-Faced Chipboard)
MFC:
PANOPREY faced MR chipboard is a composite material made by bonding a decorative melamine layer to a chipboard core. This combination results in a durable, cost-effective, and versatile product.
Components of PANOPREY Faced MR Chipboard:
1. Chipboard Core: The core is made from wood particles bonded together with resin to form a dense, rigid board. Chipboard (or particleboard) is a cost-effective material that provides structural strength.
2. Melamine Layer: The chipboard is covered with a PANOPREY - impregnated paper layer. Melamine is a synthetic resin that, when cured, creates a hard, smooth surface. This layer can be printed with a variety of colours, patterns, or textures, simulating wood grains, solid colours, or abstract designs.
Key Features of Melamine-Faced Chipboard Laminate:
- Durability: The PANOPREY layer provides a tough, scratch-resistant, and impact-resistant surface, making it suitable for all dry area applications.
- Moisture Resistance: The PANOPREY surface offers some resistance to moisture, though it's important to note that while the surface is moisture-resistant, the chipboard core can be vulnerable to water damage if the edges or seams are not properly sealed.
- Aesthetic Variety: PANOPREY faced chipboard comes in a wide range of finishes, from realistic wood grains to solid colours and decorative patterns, allowing for flexibility in design.
- Easy Maintenance: The smooth, non-porous surface is easy to clean and maintain, requiring only regular wiping to keep it in good condition.
- Cost-Effective: Compared to solid wood or high-pressure laminates, PANOPREY faced chipboard is a more affordable option, making it a popular choice in budget-conscious projects.
In summary, PANOPREY faced chipboard is a practical material that offers a combination of durability, design flexibility, and cost-efficiency, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in commercial settings.
Material (High-Pressure Laminate)
High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a durable, decorative surface material made by bonding multiple layers of paper under high heat and pressure. It is widely used in various applications, particularly in furniture, countertops, wall panels, and washroom cubicles due to its resilience and aesthetic versatility.
Composition of High-Pressure Laminate (HPL):
1. Overlay (Top) Layer: This is a clear, protective layer that provides resistance to scratches, stains, and general wear. It’s usually made from melamine resin, which hardens into a tough, transparent surface.
2. Decorative Layer: Below the overlay, this layer contains the printed design or colour, which gives the HPL its appearance. It can mimic a variety of materials, such as wood, stone, or solid colours.
3. Core Layers: These consist of several layers of kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin. The number of layers can vary depending on the desired thickness and strength of the final product. The phenolic resin gives the core its rigidity and strength.
Manufacturing Process:
1. Impregnation: Kraft paper (for the core) is impregnated with phenolic resin, while the decorative paper is impregnated with melamine resin. These resins are thermosetting, meaning they harden when exposed to heat.
2. Stacking: The impregnated papers are stacked, with the decorative paper and overlay on top of the kraft paper layers.
3. Pressing: The stack is placed in a high-pressure press, where it is subjected to heat (typically around 120-150°C) and pressure (about 1,000 to 1,400 PSI) for a set amount of time. This process fuses the layers together into a single, solid laminate sheet.
4. Cooling and Finishing: After pressing, the laminate is cooled and then trimmed to size. The surface can also be finished with textures or gloss levels, depending on the intended use.
Characteristics of HPL:
- Durability: HPL is resistant to impact, scratches, moisture, and heat, making it ideal for high-traffic and demanding environments.
- Versatility: It comes in a wide range of colours, patterns, and finishes, including wood grains, metallics, and solid colours.
- Maintenance: It is easy to clean and maintain, as the non-porous surface resists stains and bacteria.
- Cost-Effectiveness: HPL provides an affordable alternative to natural materials, offering a similar appearance with enhanced performance.
Because of these properties, High-Pressure Laminate is a popular choice in various industries, especially in applications where both durability and aesthetics are important.
Material (Solid Grade Laminate)
Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) is a high-performance material widely used in environments requiring durability, hygiene, and resistance to moisture and impact. It's made by compressing multiple layers of kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin and topped with a decorative surface layer, which is treated with melamine resin for additional strength and protection.
1. Durability: SGL is highly durable, capable of withstanding significant impact, abrasion, and heavy use, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like schools, hospitals, and commercial kitchens.
2. Moisture Resistance: The phenolic resin core and melamine surface layer give SGL excellent resistance to moisture, making it suitable for wet environments such as bathrooms, shower cubicles, and laboratory worktops.
3. Hygiene: The non-porous surface of SGL prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi, making it a preferred material in areas where hygiene is crucial.
In summary, Solid Grade Laminate is a durable, moisture-resistant, and versatile material, ideal for demanding environments that require both strength and aesthetic flexibility. Its solid construction and high resistance to wear and chemicals make it a preferred choice for many commercial and institutional applications.
